{NEW ADDITION} MELISSA'S FRIDAY FAVORITES 9.26.24

What is Friday Favorites?

Each week I give my Facebook group a chance to share highlights of their week with FRIDAY 5 prompts. Now I want to share my favorite things HERE with you! These are practical things that either have helped or helping me in my daily/ weekly rhythms. Sometimes these are things I'm just starting and loving or sometimes they are things "tried and true" that I just can't help but want to share with you. Most things I don't have an affiliation with but sometimes I will spotlight people, podcasts, books, music, or products that I love so I will provide links.

I'd love for you to hit REPLY and share your favorites too!

ONE

SCRIPTURE, SONG, OR INSPIRTION QUOTE

"For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13

This scripture came from one of my morning devotions this week in The YouVersion Bible App.

A quote from the devotional:

Our praise is not contingent on what we're feeling at any given moment or circumstances we're walking through. He is the caretaker of our souls; the One who sent His only son to die for the sins of all humanity.

TWO

BOOK OR PODCAST

The Bible RECAP (podcast) with Tara Lee Cobble

Keep reading I share more on why I LOVE this below.

THREE

FOOD, RECIPE, OR PRODUCT

Have you ever tried Mushroom Coffee?

I LOVE my morning coffee rhythm!! I just love the idea of it. Coffee is not about caffeine for me, it never has been. It's more about the comfort and experience it brings to my mornings.

My current rhythm entails listening to The Bible RECAP with Tara Lee Cobble while I prepare my coffee; then I continue my time in the Word and prayer.

About 6 months ago I thought I'd try switching to Mushroom coffee as I was working on balancing my cortisol rhythms and wanted to take out the caffeine without talking away my beloved coffee rhythm.

BUT......I don't know that I love the brand I tried.

Do you have a Mushroom Coffee you have tired? Feel free to REPLY and give me your feedback.

FOUR

RHYTHM OR ROUTINE

I guess I just shared my most treasured Rhythms above; my Morning Rhythm that includes "Coffee" with the Lord.

This has been my ONE CONSTANT in my life the last several years. I treasure this time so much.

The YouVersion App has helped make this a time that I look forward to. I began this habit with just their daily scripture, devotional, and prayer they call "Daily Refresh". At times I have added additional topical devotions on occasion when I needed it and now I'm going through the entire bible for the second year. This year I'm doing The Bible RECAP (a chronological bible plan) .

I have learned so much about God's character through these devotionals and bible discovery plans.

The Bible RECAP will be beginning our New Testament study September 30th if you'd like to join in. Click the link below to see more on this YouVersion Devotional Plan.

FIVE

NURTURING THOUGHT/ BREATH PRAYER

From Psalm 139:10

"even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me."

BREATH PRAYER:

Breath in: even there ( in my fear of rejection or abandonment)

Breath out: my God will lead me and hold me

  • note: I have no "affiliation" with YouVersion Bible App or Tara Lee Cobble and The Bible RECAP.

A Post You Might Have Missed

{Devotional} A Welcomed Interruption AND... Back to School Rhythms

I was sitting on my back patio late morning that mid-August day. It was warm but the direct sun hadn't quite reached me yet. I had a wonderful quiet time with the Lord and my mind was now shifting to writing mode; or at least I thought that was the direction I was heading.

“Mommy can you help me edit this paper for English class?”

I took a deep breath and set aside my notebook. MY WRITING would have to wait. My current rhythm took a short pause then shifted to a new rhythm; from writer to homeschooling mom.

Why My Burnout Seemed So Surprising

I've always been a firm believer that coaches need coaches. As I've moved through the process of obtaining my certifications I continued to learn and work under other coaches. I knew I could not pour out what I did not possess.

Perhaps this is why my feelings of burnout in the spring seemed so surprising. It wasn't because I was completely neglecting all of my needs.

"We as nurturers of our home create a family culture of healthy rhythms and habits that influence generations. Being in God's Word is one of those important and healthy rhythms."
